The STMicroelectronics 16K Non-volatile Static RAM and Real-time Clock is a highly integrated device designed to provide reliable data storage and timekeeping. It is pin and functionally compatible with JEDEC standard 2kb x 8 SRAMs, offering seamless integration into existing designs.
This device features an integrated button cell that maintains data and clock functionality for an accumulated period of at least 10 years in the absence of power over the operating temperature range. It easily fits into many ROM, EPROM, and EEPROM sockets, providing the non-volatility of PROMs without requiring special write timing or imposing limitations on the number of write cycles that can be performed.
The Timekeeper integrates an ultra-low power SRAM, a real-time clock, and a power-fail control circuit. It offers BYTEWIDE™ RAM-like clock access, with BCD coded year, month, day, date, hours, minutes, and seconds. The typical clock accuracy is ±1 minute per month at 25°C, and software-controlled clock calibration is available for high-accuracy applications. Additionally, it includes automatic power-fail chip deselect and write protection to safeguard data integrity.
Supply voltage ranges from 4.75V to 5.5V, and the operating temperature spans from 0°C to 70°C.
