St MicroElectronics LD1117 3.3V Low Dropout Voltage Regulator 800mA TO-220

The St MicroElectronics LD1117 3.3V Low Dropout Voltage Regulator 800mA TO-220 is a linear, fixed-output voltage regulator that provides a stable 3.3V output with up to 800mA of output current, suited to power management tasks where a consistent supply voltage is required.

Overview

The LD1117V33C uses an NPN pass transistor architecture, which directs most of the quiescent current into the load rather than wasting it. The regulator maintains regulation when the input voltage is only slightly higher than the 3.3V output, with a typical dropout voltage of 1V. Stability is achieved with a common 10µF minimum capacitor on the output.

Key Features

• Output voltage tolerance of ±1% at 25°C, achieved through on-chip trimming
• Output voltage tolerance of 2% across the full operating temperature range of -40°C to 125°C
• Supply voltage rejection of 75dB (typical) to help filter noise and ripple from the input supply
• Internal current and thermal limiting for overload protection
• Housed in a TO-220 package for through-hole mounting

Applications

The regulator is suited to power management in a variety of electronic systems, including:

• Power supplies for microcontrollers, FPGAs, and digital logic
• Battery-powered equipment
• Post-regulation for switching power

Physical Details

The regulator has a weight of 2.04 g and product dimensions of 3.3 (width), 1.5 (depth) and 4.3 (height). Key electrical figures, including tolerance, dropout voltage and supply voltage rejection, are listed in the Additional Information section.

Choose the St MicroElectronics LD1117 3.3V Low Dropout Voltage Regulator 800mA TO-220 when you need a fixed 3.3V supply capable of delivering 800mA in a TO-220 through-hole package.
