Fixed 5V, 1.2A LDO voltage regulator from STMicro. High PSRR, 350mV dropout, 2.5-18V input. Ideal for SMPS & DC-DC post-regulation.
The STMicroelectronics LDL1117S50R is a high-performance, low-dropout (LDO) linear voltage regulator designed for demanding applications where stable and clean power is critical. It delivers a fixed 5V output with a maximum current of 1.2A from an input voltage range of 2.5V to 18V. A standout feature is its exceptionally low dropout voltage of just 350mV (typical) at full load, maximising efficiency and allowing it to operate with a very small voltage differential between input and output.
This device boasts a high power supply rejection ratio (PSRR) of 87dB at 120Hz, which remains above 40dB at 100kHz. This excellent noise rejection makes it ideally suited for direct regulation in switched-mode power supplies (SMPS) and for providing secondary, ultra-clean linear regulation in DC-DC converter circuits. Integrated protection features, including current limiting, safe operating area (SOA) control, and thermal shutdown, ensure robust and reliable operation under a wide range of conditions.
Housed in a compact, surface-mount SOT-223-3 package, it is perfect for space-constrained designs across consumer electronics, industrial control systems, motherboard point-of-load (P.O.L.) regulation, and general DC-DC post-regulation. Its wide operating temperature range of -40°C to 125°C guarantees performance in harsh environments.
