STMicroelectronics TDA7377 Quad Audio Power Amplifier IC, Class AB, 20W

STMicroelectronics TDA7377 Quad Audio Power Amplifier IC is a Class AB quad power amplifier integrated circuit rated at 20W, designed for in-car audio applications with a supply range of 8V to 18V.

Overview

The TDA7377 can be configured to work either as a dual bridge or as a quad single-ended amplifier, offering design flexibility for different audio system layouts. It uses an exclusive fully complementary output stage and internally fixed gain, which keeps the external component count low and simplifies circuit design.

Key Features

• Class AB quad/stereo amplifier configuration
• Configurable output of 35W x 2 channels @ 4 Ohm
• Internally fixed gain with a fully complementary output stage
• On-board clip detector to simplify gain compression operations
• Fault diagnostics to help detect mistakes during car radio assembly and in-vehicle wiring
• ST-BY function, CMOS compatible, operating without audible popping noise
• Maximum quiescent drain current of 150mA
• Supply voltage rejection of at least 50dB and typical crosstalk of 70dB

Protection

The amplifier includes output AC/DC short circuit protection with a soft short at turn-on, overrating chip temperature protection with a soft thermal limiter, and load dump voltage surge protection for very inductive loads. It is also safeguarded against fortuitous open ground, reversed battery, and electrostatic discharge (ESD).

Package and Dimensions

The TDA7377 is housed in a vertical Multiwatt package with 15 pins for through-hole mounting. Listed dimensions are width 3.3, depth 1.5 and height 4.3, with a weight of 5.443 gm.

Use the STMicroelectronics TDA7377 in in-car audio systems and car radio designs where a compact 15-pin Multiwatt quad amplifier with fault diagnostics and protection features is required.
