The STUSB4500QTR from STMicroelectronics is a standalone USB Power Delivery (PD) sink controller designed to negotiate power contracts of up to 100W (20V; 5A) without requiring external microcontroller support. Its proprietary auto-run algorithm automatically configures the power delivery contract with a source, simplifying integration and reducing system complexity.
The device supports dead battery mode, making it ideal for sink devices that must be operational immediately after being powered from a depleted battery. It includes up to 3 configurable sink PDO profiles (up to 20V, 5A), stored in integrated non-volatile memory, allowing for flexible power negotiation.
Featuring advanced protection, the controller safeguards the CC pins against short-circuits to VBUS up to 22V and handles high voltage on VBUS pins up to 28V. It also integrates VBUS switch gate drivers (PMOS), VBUS voltage monitoring, and internal and/or external discharge paths, ensuring reliable and safe operation across a wide temperature range from -40°C to 105°C.
