Bidirectional current sense amplifier by TEXAS INSTRUMENTS. VSSOP 8-pin, 0-36V common-mode, selectable gain. Ideal for motor control & power management.
The TEXAS INSTRUMENTS Current Sense Amplifier is a voltage-output, bidirectional current-shunt monitor designed to sense drops across current-sensing resistors. It operates with common-mode voltages varying from 0 to 36V, functioning independently of the supply voltage.
This device features a low-offset, zero-drift architecture alongside precision gain values, enabling highly accurate current-sensing across the entire operating temperature range, even with maximum drops across the shunt as low as 10mV of full-scale. Four discrete programmable gain levels (25, 50, 100, and 200V/V) are selectable using the two gain-select terminals (GS0 and GS1). An external reference can be used to measure current flowing in both directions across the resistor.
Operating from a single +2.7V to +36V power supply, the amplifier draws a maximum supply current of 350µA. It boasts a wide common-mode voltage range, a common-mode rejection ratio (CMRR) of 105dB, and a bandwidth of 250kHz when the gain is set to 25V/V. The input offset voltage is 75µV with an input bias current of 72µA, ensuring precision in demanding applications.
Please note that this device has limited built-in ESD protection. To prevent electrostatic damage to the MOS gates, the leads should be shorted together, or the device placed in conductive foam during storage or handling.
