Separate clock inputs are provided for both the shift and storage registers, offering precise timing control. The shift register includes a direct overriding clear (SRCLR) input, a serial (SER) input for data, and serial outputs for easy cascading of multiple devices. When the output-enable (OE) input is held high, all outputs enter a high-impedance state, which is essential for bus-oriented applications.
