The Texas Instruments TPS3823-33DBVR is a high-performance supply voltage supervisor designed to provide robust circuit initialisation and timing supervision in DSP and processor-based systems. It integrates a watchdog timer and a manual reset input, making it an essential component for ensuring system reliability and controlled start-up sequences.

Upon power-on, the RESET output asserts low once the supply voltage (VDD) exceeds 1.1V. The device continuously monitors VDD, holding RESET active whenever the voltage dips below the precise threshold (VIT-). An integrated timer guarantees a proper system reset by introducing a fixed 200ms delay before the output returns to its inactive high state, ensuring stable operation even with noisy or slowly rising power supplies.

A key feature is the integrated watchdog timer. This must be periodically triggered by transitions at the Watchdog Input (WDI) pin. If the supervising microcontroller fails to retrigger it within the set timeout interval, the device will automatically assert a reset pulse, recovering the system from a software hang or fault condition. This makes it ideal for critical applications where uptime is paramount.

With a remarkably low typical supply current of just 15µA, it is suitable for power-sensitive portable devices. The device is offered in a compact, surface-mount SOT-23-5 package and supports a wide supervision range, with variants available for 2.5V, 3V, 3.3V, and 5V systems.
