The VISHAY AMETHERM SL22 is a 2-pin NTC thermistor designed as an effective inrush current limiter. It protects components in switching power supplies and other power devices by limiting the surge of current when equipment is initially turned on.
Operating by presenting an initial high resistance to electrical current, this SL22 series thermistor quickly heats up as current flows through it, reducing its resistance to a negligible level. This characteristic makes it exceptionally reliable for safeguarding sensitive circuitry from potential damage caused by sudden inrush currents. The device is suitable for use in circuits of up to 480VAC.
Featuring a radial leaded design with a disc size of 22mm, the thermistor is easy to install on standard circuit boards. With a resistance of 5 Ohm at 25°C, it offers a maximum steady-state current of 12A and a maximum energy rating of 100J at 25°C. Additionally, it features a thermal time constant of 94s and a dissipation constant of 32.4mW/°C. Approved by both CSA and UL, this component ensures compliance with stringent safety standards, providing confidence in its performance for demanding electronic applications.
