VNC1L Embedded USB Host Controller Development Module

The VNC1L Embedded USB Host Controller Development Module (VDIP1) is a versatile platform designed for rapid prototyping and development of embedded USB host applications. Built around the FTDI Vinculum VNC1L IC, this module integrates a powerful MCU and embedded flash memory, enabling it to handle USB host interfaces, data transfer, and USB device class encapsulation all in one device.

This module is supplied on a PCB that fits conveniently into a standard 24-pin DIP socket, offering easy integration into existing designs. It provides access to the VNC1L's UART (serial), parallel FIFO, and SPI interfaces via its bus pins, allowing flexible communication with external microcontrollers. A single USB 'A' type socket is included for connecting peripheral devices, and a second USB port is available via module pins if needed.

The board is powered directly from a 5V USB connection, eliminating the need for an external power supply. An auxiliary 3.3V/200mA output is provided to power external logic circuits. Jumper selectable configuration enables seamless switching between UART, parallel FIFO, or SPI interfaces, making it adaptable to various host systems. The included power and traffic LEDs provide clear visual status indication, while the PROG# and RESET# control pins are conveniently brought out to the jumper interface for firmware programming and updates via USB flash disk or any of the supported interfaces.
