The Texas Instruments LM2576HVS-5.0/NOPB is a SIMPLE SWITCHER® step-down (buck) regulator engineered for high efficiency and simplicity of design. Capable of driving a 3A load with excellent line and load regulation, it provides a robust and reliable 5V power supply solution from a wide input voltage range of 4V to 60V. This monolithic regulator integrates all active functions, including a fixed-frequency oscillator and internal frequency compensation, significantly reducing external component count and simplifying your switch-mode power supply design.

A standout feature is its high efficiency, which makes it an excellent replacement for traditional three-terminal linear regulators. By minimising power dissipation, it substantially reduces the size of the required heat sink; in many applications, no heat sink is needed at all. This not only saves space but also lowers overall system cost and complexity. The regulator operates at a fixed 52kHz switching frequency, and a standard series of readily available inductors from multiple manufacturers are optimised for use with it, further easing the selection process.
