The Timco 5.5x85mm Metal Construction Screws are precision-engineered fasteners specifically designed for attaching timber to light section steel (up to 5mm thickness). These screws feature an innovative wing-tip design that reams out the timber, allowing the screw to achieve maximum RPM without burning out. When the wings encounter metal, they break off to enable the thread to self-tap into the metal.
Constructed from bi-metal material, these screws combine a hardened carbon steel drill tip fused to an A2-304 Austenitic Stainless Steel body, offering excellent durability and corrosion resistance - making them suitable for exterior applications. The partially threaded (P/T) design provides greater holding power while reducing splitting in timber applications.
These screws feature a countersunk head with ribs for secure seating and a Phillips recess for easy driving. Their self-drilling No.3 point eliminates the need for pre-drilling in most applications, saving time and effort during installation.
