The Arduino MKR GPS Shield is a versatile expansion board designed to bring precise global navigation satellite system (GNSS) capabilities to your projects. Based on the u-blox SAM-M8Q module, it is engineered to receive and process signals from multiple satellite constellations concurrently, including GPS, GLONASS, and Galileo, ensuring reliable positioning data. It is primarily intended for use on top of boards in the Arduino MKR format, providing a seamless and compact stackable solution.
For increased flexibility, the shield also features an Eslov connector. This allows you to connect it to any compatible board that has this connector using the dedicated ESLOV cable supplied in the bundle, enabling you to integrate GNSS functionality into a wider range of setups. Communication with your Arduino board can be established either through a direct serial interface when using the headers or via an I2C interface when using the Eslov cable. A CR1216 backup battery is included to maintain real-time clock (RTC) settings and hot-start capabilities.
