4tronix Bit:Bot XL Robot for micro:bit is a fully assembled, bigger and more advanced successor to the original Bit:Bot, with two micro-metal gear motors for speed and direction control.

The Bit:Bot XL is designed for micro:bit programming and robotics, and it is fully compatible with the original MakeCode extension. It is supplied ready to run straight out of the box, making it suitable for educators, students, and hobbyists.

Key Features

• Two micro-metal gear motors with fully enclosed gearboxes, controllable in software for speed (0 to 100%) and direction (forward or reverse)
• Large, chunky wheels with rubber tyres for traction across various surfaces
• 12 individually addressable RGB LEDs arranged in two sets of six along the side arms, with any colour programmable for each LED
• Buzzer connected to Pin 0 for sound effects or simple music
• Two digital line-following sensors, which no longer share pins with the micro:bit A/B buttons
• Two analogue light sensors with indicator LEDs for light-seeking or light-avoiding behaviours
• Expansion connections at the front for adding sensors, such as the ultrasonic distance sensor shown in illustrations
• Integrated 3x AA battery holder with on/off switch and blue power indicator LED

Applications

The robot supports autonomous behaviours, line-following robots and races, and light-seeking or light-avoiding projects. Its LEDs can be programmed to sync with the robot's movements, making it suitable for coding projects that combine motion, light, and sound.
