The IDEAL-TEK VDV Multimedia Cable Tester is an all-in-one solution for verifying the correct wiring and performance of low-voltage and data communications cables. This compact tester combines a Voice-Data-Video (VDV) wiremapper with a built-in tone generator, making it an essential tool for installers and maintenance professionals working with network, phone, and coaxial installations.
The intuitive LCD wiremapper verifies cable continuity and clearly identifies errors by pin, including shorts, opens, miswires, reversals, and split pairs. It supports twisted pair, coax, and phone type cables, and is compatible with Cat3/Cat5/Cat5e/Cat6/Cat6a, RG59/RG6/RG6 Quad cables. The unit features both RJ-45 and RJ-11/12 modular jacks, as well as a female F port interface for coax testing.
A built-in tone generator offers four selectable tones, and you can send the tone by pin, by pair, or through the entire cable. The included main remote is conveniently stored in the base of the unit, preventing loss. The tester is supplied with a 9V PP3 battery, so it is ready to use out of the box.
