The VISHAY 159 PUL-SI Series Aluminium Electrolytic Capacitor offers a reliable, ultra-long-life solution for demanding electronic circuits. Featuring a non-solid electrolyte and a polarised design, this snap-in capacitor provides low Equivalent Series Resistance (ESR) and high ripple current capability, ensuring optimal performance in power management applications.

Aluminium electrolytic capacitors are highly suitable for addressing requirements such as low and high frequency filtering and energy storage, which demand high capacitance values and robust power ratings. This device offers excellent capacitance-to-unit-cost ratios, a compact size compared to alternative technologies, and relative insensitivity to voltage spikes. The construction consists of an electrochemically etched aluminium anode foil forming the first plate, an oxide layer on the etched foil acting as the dielectric, and a paper spacer impregnated with fluid electrolyte forming the second plate. A second foil provides the contact with the fluid electrolyte.

Housed in a cylindrical case with pressure relief and insulated with a blue sleeve, this component delivers high reliability. It serves as an effective input buffer, providing energy when mains input voltage drops, storing energy while an AC/DC converter adapts to new power levels, and preventing high-frequency switching noise from reaching the power source. Additionally, it functions as an output buffer, acting as a current sink for inductors during current to voltage conversion and filtering, while also buffering energy during output power adjustments.
