The DFROBOT Fermion SGP40 Air Quality Sensor Breakout is a compact and highly efficient module designed for evaluating indoor air quality. Built around the SGP40 digital VOC (Volatile Organic Compounds) sensor chip from Sensirion, it utilises advanced CMOSens® technology to provide a complete sensor system on a single chip. This includes a temperature-controlled micro-hotplate and a humidity-compensated signal, ensuring accurate and reliable readings.
Combining the hardware with Sensirion’s powerful VOC algorithm, the sensor data can be directly used to assess air quality without the need for complex calibration. The sensor outputs a VOC index for direct air quality indication, making it straightforward to integrate into your projects. It boasts ultra-low power consumption at just 2.6mA and a fast response time of 2 seconds.
Designed for versatility, the breakout board supports a power supply range from 3.3V to 5V and communicates via I2C with an address of 0x59. To facilitate rapid development, C and Python libraries are provided, making it compatible with popular platforms such as Arduino Uno and Raspberry Pi B4 boards. Measuring just 43 mm x 33 mm x 15 mm and weighing only 7 grams, its compact size is ideal for space-constrained installations.
